The Sensory Shift Workshop is a 30-minute replay designed to help you understand what’s happening beneath the behavior — through the lens of sensory processing, neuroscience, and the nervous system.

This session combines lived experience with current research on sensory processing differences in Autism, ADHD, and SPD. We’ll explore what recent occupational therapy and neuroscience studies show about sensory gating, arousal, and recovery time and how these findings align with everyday neurodivergent life.

We will cover:

  • Volume Dial – Why arousal isn’t on/off, how to notice your (or your child’s) “just right” zone, and what helps turn the dial down after overwhelm.

    •    Sensory Systems – A practical tour of all nine systems (not just five) and how differences show up in daily life.

    •    Research & Neuroscience – What OT and brain science say about sensory gating, regulation, and recovery time in Autism/ADHD/SPD.

    •    Sensory Validation Cycle – Understanding → language → choice → accommodation → recovery — a simple loop you can use right away.

    •    Accommodations in Action – Real-life examples for home, school, car rides, errands, and “mismatched” sensory needs.

    •    Language – Scripts that build safety and self-advocacy (for kids and adults).

    •    Reflections – Gentle prompts to personalize what you’ve learned.

You’ll leave with: clarity on the nervous system, everyday accommodations that actually help, and language that creates safety instead of shame.
